Prescott: He Deserved To Die

6th June 2001

John Prescott yesterday showed no sympathy for the man he helped to die in a London hospital.

The deputy prime minister pulled the plug on a life support machine after a patient said his suit clashed with his hair.

Mr Prescott said about the incident: "The man showed no respect, I may have lost my temper in the heat of the moment and killed the bastard, but he deserved to die."

The police said: "We arrested the man's family on suspicion that they assisted in his murder, but we have just issued Mr Prescott with a warning."

The victim was Kevin Bilshaw from Fulham. He had been run down by an ambulance on Sunday morning while on his way to buy The Taxman at a local newsagent.

John Prescott is expected to appeal on his warning from the police.
